A few weeks ago, Jason and I had the amazing opportunity to visit Cusco, Peru – including a trip to Machu Picchu! Of course Machu Picchu was on our bucket list, but honestly I wasn’t sure when we would get there since we have 2 young daughters…getting to Peru is enough work, but then to Cusco and then to Machu Picchu is quite a journey and test of patience for little ones. So, it just didn’t seem like our Machu Picchu aspirations would be realized anytime soon, so….when the opp presented itself for just to two of us to sneak away for a week, we of course said YES! One major thing we’ve noticed about GWS readers (and something we absolutely ADORE) is how adventurous you all are! We’re constantly seeing dreamy destination weddings + elopements that not only have our hearts going pitter-patter, but one’s that give us major wanderlust. Our list of places to travel is ever-expanding, and we’ve got a feeling that many of you have a similar list…

Destination #9: Le Palais Paysan, Morocco. Situated just south of Marrakech at the foothills of the Atlas Mountains, this so-called “peasant palace” is anything but stingy with its comforts. Sweeping vistas open up in every direction, making Le Palais Paysan a pastoral retreat less than an hour from the heart of the city – we also shared this gorgeous wedding at this hotel!Destination #10: Alila Jabal Akhdar, Oman. In Sanskrit ‘alila’ means “surprise,” and it’s definitely a surprise you’ll find in this remote corner of the Middle East — Oman’s Al Hajar mountain range, to be exact. The hotel of Alila Jabal Akhdar requires a bit of effort to get to, but for most, that’s exactly the appeal. It’s a secluded and self-contained oasis, with a spectacular spa and an infinity pool that looks over the stark + mystifying landscape.

If you follow GWS on Instagram or Instagram Stories (I have our trip saved in Highlights as well) you know that last month Jason + I went to the Four Seasons Lanai to celebrate 10 years of marriage!! We actually visited Lanai 5 years ago for our 5 year anniversary (it’s just such a mellow, relaxing spot!!) but the Four Seasons did some pretty major updates about 2 years ago, so we were excited to see what changed and experience the new property. This was also our first trip (we spent 3 nights here) with just the two of us since we had kids so we were definitely looking forward to relaxing by the pool, long dinners and getting up early to take advantage of sunrise yoga (all things you can’t do when traveling with young kids!). While we LOVE traveling with our 2 little ones, it was SO nice to take a few days and just spend time with the two of us. Very much needed. Big thanks to my parents for watching our girls while we enjoyed this trip! :)
